I did the Seward Park with Mike this a.m. (before the
bike races got going) and saw my first Western Tanager:
on a tree about 10' up and 15' away, fresh from a Lake
Washington bath and grooming busily. Lovely!

Then did the Edmonds Marsh with Pilchuck Audubon. Best
thing about that was (1) the brownies, and (2) two new
books: Birds of Yakima County, and Birds of Snohomish
County. Yeow! Love those local guides! Check with
Pilchuck Audubon for copies.

Finished with a Spencer Island tour, another Pilchuck-
sponsored trip, where I saw my first Yellow Warbler.
No woodpeckers, which was odd, but a small and amiable
group of folks wandering around for several hours had a
lovely time. Birders just seem to be the nicest folks.

Thanks to all the groups for all the work
in putting the Migratory Bird Day celebrations together.
Remember that next week the Woodland Park Zoo holds
its own celebration on Sat 5/20. Look for Greg Toffic's
email address in any of the Tweeters postings to get
more info; I can't find the messages I received on it.
