We have been home for so long, (4 days) we decided to take a drive
this week-end.
Headed towards Bridgeport and Brewster, then went north to Omak.
Conconully is north west of Omak about 15 miles. There is a nice state
park
there on the lake. The 140 mile trip produced 54 species. There were a
pair of
RED-NECKED GREBES on Conconully Lake. They spent a lot of time
"talking"
to each other. What an interesting sound.

We walked in to town and crossed the bridge that goes over the north
fork of the
Salmon River. Just as we arrived, two AMERICAN DIPPERS flew up the
river
and landed on the rocks.

Some of the other birds we saw were YELLOW WARBLER, WESTERN TANAGER,
RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER. PINE SISKIN, WESTERN BLUEBIRD, and KING FISHER.

We watched a COOPER'S HAWK working the bushes along the edge of the
lake
looking for his dinner. We heard pecking in a distant tree. After
listening to Stoke's
CD we ID it as a WILLIAMSON'S SAPSUCKER.

Still a bit cool for camping, but we had great time!
