On May 13, we observed 10 to 20 male LAZULI BUNTINGS
in a small area of brush maybe 20 meters in diameter.
They were all singing continuously & there was much exchanging
of perches. No females were seen. No other buntings were
seen all day in similar habitat.

At first we assumed they were competing for the best territory,
but wonder if there is a deeper purpose such as refining their
song. Comments? (We were in SE Yakima county.)
