After seeing a post on Tweeters by Patrick Sullivan saying that he had
found a BLACK TERN at the Ridgefield N.W.R. on May 14 I headed out there
Monday after work. Not only did I find the tern, which is the first
record for Clark County that I am aware of, I also spotted a male TUFTED
DUCK, four YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS, three calling AMERICAN BITTERNS, and
two CASPIAN TERNS. Not a bad group of birds in less than an hour of
birding after work.
May 14 I was birding in Skamania County and had calling ASH-THROATED
FLYCATCHERS at the Spring Creek Fish Hatchery on the Columbia River.
