Hello Tweets,

Today I birded mainly Clark Co., with some birding in Skamania Co. with 102 species. I started at the River S Unit of the Ridgefield NWR, where the male TUFTED DUCK was noted at 10:10am, with 7 Ring-necked Ducks and 1 male Lesser Scaup. Another male Lesser Scaup, and 9 more R.N.Ducks, and a female Bufflehead were seen on another part of the "flooded area" of the auto tour route. Other highlights at this location included:

2 EARED GREBES
5 BLUE-WINGED TEAL
1 BLACK-NECKED STILT
2 WESTERN SANDPIPER
2 LEAST SANDPIPER
1 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER
1 female WILSON'S PHALAROPE
1 HAMMOND'S FLYCATCHER(in the forested area uphill from the RR tracks)
2 BANK SWALLOWS
6 YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS

I birded the Carty Unit(N access)of Ridgefield NWR briefly before noon, where I located a single RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER and a Red-Breasted Sapsucker in the Oak groves, with few other birds.

I headed east along Hwy.14, where I scoped the Steigerwald NWR, and located 2 AM.BITTERNS, and a lone GREATER YELLOWLEGS on the edge of the marsh, and a singing NASHVILLE WARBLER, later located across the highway to the north then to eastern Skamania Co. along Hwy.14 at the Spring Creek Nat. Fish Hatchery, where up to 3 ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHERS were located, uphill from the highway in Oak and Ponderosa Pine trees, amongst other vegetation. On my way back west I checked the east side of N.Bonneville Dam, where 2 WESTERN GREBES were seen in the same location where Ken Knittle and I had 1 bird on the 7th.
