Hi, Coll

Well, I hope you aren't inundated with requests for everyone's favorite
bird name in Lushootseed, but I can't resist. Since I'm partially a writer
I need to know these things :-) So . . . what is turkey vulture and
condor in your language?

Also, I've enjoyed your comments on names, etc. I will never know why
oldsquaw got its name. It is a very handsome duck and has one of the
longest tails in duckdom and while 'long-tailed duck' is not too creative
it is certainly descriptive. I deplore the "common" and "northern"
designation to some of our quite lovely birds - certainly those
designations are truly boring and in need of change.

Cheers, Diann
