the South Jetty of the Columbia River, Clatsop Co., OR
28 May 2000 0850-0920hr

Weather: mostly cloudy
Wind SW 10-15; Temp 55F

Method: 30 minute station count at 100m west of "3 rocks" on
SJCR using 20x60 Bushnell spotting scope and 8x50 Bushnell
binoculars. Birds were sorted as to flyby, sitting on beach, sitting
on ocean or sitting on river.

Notes: There were very rough seas and a pretty stiff breeze
for this morning's count. BROWN PELICANS have returned to
the SJCR. There was very little sitting on the ocean. Many
CASPIAN TERNS in the air; none on the beach.
