Made a quick trip to Ridgefield NWR River S Unit this morning and I was
surprised at the number of Blue-winged Teal. I counted 17 males and 12
females for a total of 29 which is the highest number I have ever seen in
one area. The Yellow-headed Blackbirds seem to have dispersed a bit since I
saw them at several ponds on the refuge. There was a Lesser Yellowlegs
feeding with a Greater Yellowlegs and two Wilson's Phalaropes are still
there. Nothing else unusual.
