Tweeters,

Sorry about that first message. This one should be easier to read. (I'm
having trouble with my e-mail service.)

On Sunday, My father and I birded the Columbia Basin. We started near Coulee
City and birded our way south to Moses Lake. At Moses Lake we birded the
Columbia National Wildlife Refuge. The highlights of the trip were a
Short-eared Owl that we saw perched on the top of a telephone pole just east
of Coulee City on Highway 2 and an Upland Sandpiper. I think that the Upland
Sandpiper is an odd sighting for this area. We saw the bird about four or
five miles north of Ephrata on Sagebrush Flats Road near the top of a hill.
The bird was in a small area of bunch grass that hasn't been cultivated. We
scared him out of the grass when we pulled into a turnout. He flew onto the
road, and we got some very good views of him.
