Hi Tweets,

For many years, Band Tailed Pigeons have been relatively scarce around
here. In our neighborhood, that is. Once in a while I would see one
up high in the Fir trees or flying from tree to tree up high which is
where they are supposed to hang out, as far as I know. For the last
couple of years they have come down and discovered how to get
Sunflower seed from my feeder. Up to now, their visits have been
infrequent and not much of a problem. But now, they are showing up by
the bunches. They are unloading the feeder in less than a day. Are
we having a bandtailed pigeon population explosion? What are they
supposed to eat, normally? I wish they would return to their regular
diet, whatever that is. I think maybe we have a bunch of juveniles
who have not yet learned how to work for a living. Perhaps we should
stop putting out the free lunch for a while.
