Monday, 1:01 PM, October 30. Hello, this is John Loftus 932-3765 in
Seattle. I would like to report an unusual version of a very common bird.
There is a black and white CROW at Hamilton Viewpoint in West Seattle which
is located at the northernmost extremity of California Avenue.

Monday, 1:53 PM, October 30, 2000. Hello, this is Mike Wile. Birding in
the Carnation area with Michael Mann today. About a tenth of a mile from the
intersection of West Snoqualmie Valley Road and 100th Street there is an
adult PRAIRIE FALCON in the trees lining the small creek that goes
underneath the road. Again this is Mike Wile, (425) 503-5766. Thank you and
good birding.

Monday, 5:04 PM, October 30, 2000. Hello, this is Bob Norton, Joyce,
Washington, (360) 928-3053. Here in exurban Joyce, we had an EASTERN BLUEJAY
at the home of our neighbor today. If anyone is interested in seeing it,
they should either call me at the number above or they can call Steve
Carlyle at 928-0101. His wife's name is Mel. If it sticks around it will
probably be at both sets of feeders. Thank you.

Tuesday, 11:17 AM, October 31, 2000. Hi, this is Greg Toffic with a
report for yesterday the 30th in Everett and Snohomish in various
locations. First at the Snohomish Water Treatment Plant: the influx of
HOODED MERGANSERS has begun. There were at least 75 individuals on the main
pond. At Spencer Island there was a single WHITE-THROATED SPARROW of the
white striped form at the east end of the cross dike and just south of there
on the loop path within sight of the bridge and cross dike there. On north
Ebey Island an immature NORTHERN SHRIKE and on Ebey Island on the
Lowell-Homaker's (?) Road on a newly plowed field, in the morning there were
at least 30 COMMON SNIPE. It was really hard to tell how many there were
because they were in motion, they were calling. They would constantly be
flushing and coming back. But there were at least 30 birds and there may
have been more. Then at Point Gardiner Bay, at the north viewpoint, there
was a mass of DUNLIN. There was a single WESTERN GULL at the Public Boat
Launch in Everett. Good luck and good birding.

Wednesday, 4:32 PM, November 1, 2000. Hi, this is Stephen Mlodinow.
Today there was a RED-SHOULDERED HAWK at Spencer Island. As you walk on to
the island, there is a barn immediately in front of you. I flushed the bird
out from the vicinity of the barn. It flew to the north to a line of tall,
almost leafless, trees and landed in one of those and preened for the next
20 minutes or so. Then it was harassed by a couple of CROWS. It flew back
over the barn and cut across the slough to the Everett Sewage Pond side.
This was about 8 to 9 o'clock in the morning. Steve Pink and I thought we
heard a RED-SHOULDERED HAWK in the same vicinity about a month ago. It may
well be the same bird. Also, at high tide on Spencer Island, just south of
the cross dike, there were two PECTORAL SANDPIPERS in with all the
LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS. That's it. Good luck and good birding.

Wednesday, 8:10 PM, November 1, 2000. Hi, this is Tom Aversa, (206)
782-7342. There was a juvenile GYRFALCON at the Olympic Game Farm today at
Sequim, Washington. Thanks.

Thursday, 8:11 AM, November 2, 2000. Steve Dang, (206) 368-6887.
Yesterday, November 1, Kevin Aanerud and I. birding at the Edmunds Fishing
Pier had a pair of ANCIENT MURRELETS, one juvenile JAEGER and one CLARK'S
GREBE.
