A GREAT GRAY OWL was very cooperative near Newman Lake, northeast of
Spokane, Spokane Co WA. As of Oct 22 it had been present 2 weeks, although
the last reported sighting was Oct 22, with misses on Oct 23 and 24. To see
if it's still around, from Spokane, take WA 290 to Moab, about a mile west
of the Idaho border. Turn north on Starr Road and go 4 miles. Turn east on
Hauser Lake Road. Check the meadow. If you don't see the bird, proceed to
McCoy Road and go south on McCoy about 0.25 mile and check all the fence
posts. The bird also sits in the fields. Also check the cow pasture east of
McCoy Road, just south of the Newman Lake to Hauser Lake Road, about 0.5
mile east of Starr Road at Newman Lake. Be patient. WA DeLorme 89, BC-8.
T26N, R45E, Sec 11 and 12. Thanks to Ron Dexter and Jeff Wisman for the
updates.

On Oct 22 Jeff Wisman found a first winter GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULL at
Riverfront Park in downtown Spokane, WA.

Also in Spokane are two BLUE JAYS hanging around the neighborhood of 60th
and Stone on the South Hill according to Cindy McCormack.

A WHITE-WINGED SCOTER was on the southern end of Sprague Lake, Adams Co, WA
on Oct 22 according to Mark Houston. The lake straddles the Lincoln and
Adams county line just south of I-90. WA DeLorme 71, BC-8.

Eight TRUMPETER SWANS were in northwestern Whitman Co, WA on Oct 22
according to Tom and Diane Weber. The birds, 4 adults and 4 juveniles, were
on Texas Lake. Texas Lake is about 10 miles due southwest of Rock Lake. WA
DeLorme 72, D-1.
