RARE BIRD ALERT, in Victoria, for TROPICAL KINGBIRD. Other Feature Birds are
BAR-TAILED GODWIT, and TUFTED DUCK.

Sightings for Tuesday, Nov. 7:

A TROPICAL KINGBIRD has been present for 2 days in Victoria, on Dallas Road,
about 100 m west of Cook St.; this is on the south side of Beacon Hill Park.
The bird has been seen in trees in that area.

Locally, the BAR-TAILED GODWIT was again on Roberts Bank, in the southwest
corner of the Coalport jetty.

At Iona Island, the female TUFTED DUCK was still on the Outer Pond, and a
SNOW BUNTING was on the south jetty, along the road, near the pumphouse.

Two RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKERS were in Stanley Park.

A COMMON BARN OWL was along the entrance road to Reifel Refuge.

Monday, Nov. 6:

The GRAY-CROWNED ROSY-FINCH, found Sunday at the base of the Iona south
jetty, spent the day on the jetty in the vicinity of the pumphouse.

Another GRAY-CROWNED ROSY-FINCH was seen in Burnaby near Dunblane Ave. and
Imperial.

Back at Iona a male MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD was noted; this bird flew toward the
North Arm jetty. A female SNOW BUNTING was at the south jetty tip. The
female TUFTED DUCK was on the Iona Outer Pond.

A SHORT-EARED OWL was on Sea Island, near Ferguson and MacDonald Roads.

There was a late report of a MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD and a TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE on
Mount Seymour. The birds were in the flat area just north of 1st Pump Peak.

Sunday, November 5th

The BAR-TAILED GODWIT. The bird was relocated on the mid-morning on the
rising
tide, with large numbers of BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER and DUNLIN, far off the
south side of the base of the Coalport Jetty. At the same location, in the
late afternoon,
was a gray morph GYRFALCON, the first of the season.

At Iona, a GRAY-CROWNED ROSY-FINCH was at the base of the south jetty at 3
PM; at the same time, the first ROCK SANDPIPER of fall was at the south
jetty tip. The female TUFTED DUCK was on the Iona Outer Pond.

A late PARASITIC JAEGER was off Point Roberts.

The WILLET was still at the base of the Tsawwassen ferry jetty, south side.
At Brunswick Point, among other species, were 5 TRUMPETER SWANS, a NORTHERN
SHRIKE, 3 SHORT-EARED OWLS, and 4 SANDHILL CRANES.
