This is Kas Dumroese with the Northern Idaho / Eastern Washington /
Northeastern Oregon bird hotline for Friday, Nov 3 (2000).

Mike and MerryLynn Denny report 2 very vocal BOREAL OWLS in southeastern
Walla Walla Co, WA on Oct 28. The birds are near a meadow 0.7 mile north of
the jct of US Forest Service roads 64 and 65. Road 64 goes north from
Tollgate, OR along the crest of the Blue Mountains and Road 65 begins as
Mill Creek Road heading east from Walla Walla. WA DeLorme 41, D-7.5.

The Denny's also report 3 tan-striped WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS in Walla
Walla, Walla Walla Co, WA. The birds are at the Fort Walla Walla Natural
Area. To get there, as you enter Walla Walla along US 12 from Pasco, turn
onto Walula Ave and follow it east to Rose Street. Follow Rose Street to
Mira. Follow Mira to the Fort Walla Walla Museum. Just before the museum is
a road to the left to the amphitheater. Follow it about 150 yards to the
Blue Mt. Audubun Natural Area parking lot. The birds can be found anywhere
along the trail.

Ron Dexter relayed a sighting of a SNOWY OWL about 4 miles east of
Daveport, Lincoln Co., WA on Nov 1. The bird was seen by Maurice Vial about
a mile north of US 2, 4.2 miles east of Davenport, along Ziemer Road. T25N,
R38E, Sec 7, SE corner. Several birders searched for the bird later in the
day without success. WA DeLorme 87, C-8.
