Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
report was made Thursday Novembe 16. If you have anything to add call

On September 15 a WHITE IBIS was at the Newport City reservoirs. The bird
was found while looking for five YELLOW-BILLED LOONS reported there
November 13. The loons were not relocated. To reach the area turn east
off Highway 101 north of Newport onto Harny Road. Turn left at the "T",
pass the lower reservoir and drive along the second reservoir. After
driving a bit through the woods the road drops down to the reservoir
again. The bird was seen in this area.

A bright male VERMILION FLYCATCHER was at Irrigon in northeast Oregon
November 7. It could not be relocated.

The WHOOPER SWANS at Summer Lake have not been seen since November 13.

On November 9 a BAR-TAILED GODWIT was at the Hatfield Science Center on
Yaquina Bay. Two PALM WARBLERS are now in the area.

The male TUFTED DUCK that traditionally winters at Bingen in the Columbia
River Gorge arrived this fall on November 9.

A BLUE JAY was reported in Klamath Falls November 8. A SNOWY OWL arrived
November 14 at the Salem Airport. It is regularly being seen near the
south end of the runway near the airport tower.

A BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER was near Langlois, south of Bandon November 14. A
PALM WARBLER and a CLAY-COLORED SPARROW were at the south end of Pony
Slough at Coos Bay November 10 and continue to be seen.

Many SHORT-TAILED SHEARWATERS are now being seen off Boiler Bay. On
November 13, 91 ANCIENT MURRELETS were observed flying south past the
viewpoint. A SWAMP SPARROW was along the dike at Meares Lake at Tillamook
Bay November 10. A CLARK'S NUTCRACKER was near Manzanita November 14. It
was on top of Neahkahnie Mountain.

A SAGE SPARROW was at Ecola State Park in Cannon Beach November 11. Up to
13 SNOW BUNTINGS are now at the South Jetty of the Columbia River.

On November 13 a BLACK PHOEBE was found in Milwaukie where one wintered
last year. Turn north off Highway 224 in Milwaukie onto Pheasant Court.
Drive to the end of the road and park. Walk across the tracks and onto
the dike. Walk left on the dike to the weir.

On November 15 a SAY'S PHOEBE was at the display pond in Finley NWR. An
immature TRUMPETER SWAN is now in the Fisher Butte Unit of Fern Ridge
Reservoir. A TREE SPARROW is nearby near the gate on Royal Avenue.

On November 12 a RED-THROATED LOON, 8 PACIFIC LOONS, a LONG-TAILED DUCK,
and 15 BARROW'S GOLDENEYES were at the John Day Dam in the Columbia River
Gorge. Two PACIFIC LOONS and a HARRIS'S SPARROW were at McNary Dam. A
SURF SCOTER was on the Prineville Sewage Ponds November 10

A HARRIS'S SPARROW, 5 SLATE-COLORED JUNCOS, and a PINK-SIDED JUNCO were
reported from Fields November 11.
