kathy ehrenberg, alan roedell and i also searched for the snowy owl this
morning as well. no luck.
being such a beautiful day, kathy and i decided to go on over to juanita bay
park to check it out. we were scoping across the bay when kathy spotted
some large "shorebirds". we observed four common snipe working the beach
along side a great blue heron. at first glance they looked like dowitchers
the way they were using their bills, but then it appeared that they may be
picking, rather than drilling. has anyone else had the opportunity to
observe the feeding habits of snipe that can offer any commentary???
