My wife and I birded the Vancouver Lake Lowlands and Ridgefield N.W.R.
on Sunday, Nov. 19th. The number of GREAT EGRETS must be dropping,
instead of the 71 that Ray Korpi found on 11/12 and the 31 seen by Arden
and Sherry Hagen on 11/18 we saw only one. There were still about 200
SANDHILL CRANES at Post Office Lake along with a BRANT, and two BARN
SWALLOWS were over the Flushing Channel at Vancouver Lake. At the
Ridgefield River "S' Unit we were surprised by one late AMERICAN BITTERN,
the "Harlan's RED-TAILED HAWK that has been at the south end of Rest Lake
was still present and an adult ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was using the meadow
near the end of the auto tour route.
