Two winters ago (December 98), we saw a pair of otters at the southern
extreme of Lake Sammamish
during the CBC, so it seems likely that the same population has been present
in that area all along.

It isn't a bird, but I think seeing a river otter at Phantom Lake in
Bellevue
is worth reporting. In past winters, I had seen 1-2 river otters, fairly
regularly, from Dec. to Feb. in Larsen L. But, none were seen during the
past
two winters. So, it is good to see that one of otters is back. It was
diving
regularly and appeared to get a fish at least once while I was watching.
