Spent 3 hrs on the beach side of the refuge, most of that spent watching a Snowy Owl perched on a log near the main stream that drains the inner ponds of the game refuge. I was also able to see two Northern Harriers and the now famous very dark Peale's Peregrine. As I left the area I glanced back one last time and was able to see the peregrine chasing down a possible meal...too far and way too fast to I.D. the smaller bird, but it was giving the raptor a good race. This was my third day in a row to the beach hoping to spot the owl; well worth the wait.
