Sightings Wednesday, November 22

An adult NORTHERN GOSHAWK and an adult SWAMP SPARROW were at Reifel Refuge;
the sparrow was near the observation tower.

Tuesday, Nov. 21:

On Deer Lake, Burnaby, were an unusually high number of 18 HOODED MERGANSERS
and 31 COMMON MERGANSERS.

A HUTTON'S VIREO was noted in Musqueam Park.

Monday, Nov. 21:

The male CINNAMON TEAL and 3 RING-NECKED DUCKS were on the Outer Pond at
Iona.

An immature NORTHERN GOSHAWK and an AMERICAN BITTERN were at Reifel Refuge.
A "gray bellied" BRANT was on the compensation lagoon on the Tsawwassen
ferry jetty.

Sunday, November 19

An AMERICAN BLACK DUCK was on the Tsawwassen ferry jetty "compensation
lagoon". The WILLET and 7 SNOW BUNTINGS were on the south side of the jetty.

The TUFTED DUCK was still on the Iona outer pond, and the SWAMP SPARROW was
in vegetation in the "corridor", outside the west fence, near the small
gate.

A late SPOTTED SANDPIPER, 1 REDHEAD, 8 RING-NECKED DUCKS, 1 YELLOW-RUMPED
WARBLER, and an AMERICAN DIPPER were at Maplewood Flats Conservation Area.

Highlights at Reifel Refuge were 3 BARRED OWLS along the entrance road, 2
SWAMP SPARROWS in the "sparrow spot" along the north dyke path, 70
LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS in the West Field, and 2 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT- HERONS.

Fifteen SHORT-EARED OWLS were on the Boundary Bay foreshore, in the vicinity
of the foot of 72nd St., and an AMERICAN BITTERN was between 64th and 72nd
Streets.

Saturday, Nov. 18:

Three late SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS were on the north side of the Roberts Bank
coalport jetty.

A male YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD was at Serpentine Fen, with a flock of mixed
blackbirds, along the path that parallels Hwy. #99.

Two GREAT-HORNED OWLS were in Deas Island Regional Park, along the Dyke Loop
and Island Tip Trails.

A VIRGINIA RAIL was near the south end of the Stone Bridge, in Stanley Park.
