the South Jetty of the Columbia River, Clatsop Co., OR

Method: 30 minute station count from observation deck on
SJCR using 20x60 Bushnell spotting scope and 8x50 Bushnell
binoculars. Birds were sorted as to flyby or sitting
on ocean.

Notes: Ocean conditions prevented a count from the jetty near the
3 rocks, so this count was from the observation deck. All
tubenoses were very close, flying between breakers at 150-200m.
SOOTY SHEARWATER showed bright white underwing coverts. Of the
3 NORTHERN FULMAR, one was a light phase (passing by twice during
the observation period) and 2 were intermediate phase.
