The hawk owl south of Colville was seen today by myself and my two friends,
Richard and Jane Redmond from Chico, Ca., we found the bird near the
intersection of 395 and 12 Mile Road. The bird was on a fence post about 50
yards northwest of the intersection. The bird flew several times back and
forth across Hwy 395 and appeared to be hunting in a small coulee. At times
landing on a small tree, NE of intersection, where it was quite visable. It
also flew behind a white building next to the tree and was not visable. We
found it at 3:30 pm. Prior to finding it we had looked in all the locations
it had been seen at in the past. We were leaving the area to check other
field type areas to the south when it was spotted next to the highway.
