I was down on Ruston Way (Tacoma) late in the morning on the 24th and spent
over an hour watching the infamous albino loon fish. He/she was half way
between Asarco and the Les Davies fishing pier when first sighted. We ended
up out on the pier with the loon between us and the shore, a few times
within 15 to 20 feet. It's dives were on an average of 50 seconds in
duration and it spent much of its surface time with its head in the water
looking for fish ( I assume). When he came to the surface with a fish he
would dive under every time a gull appeared, guess he didn't want to share.
I also noticed quite often he would raise out of the water and stretch his
wings. I was lucky to snap a couple of pictures of this. If you go to
http://www.tacomaloon.homestead.com/ I posted the pictures. I tried to
compress them as much as I could.

I have since found him 2 out my last three visits, the last this afternoon.
He was quite a ways out and spent 30 minutes or so loafing before he started
fishing.
