The weather was pretty bad today, with high winds early, and plenty of rain.
But the weather moderated somewhat (though it never got anywhere near "nice"),
and the birds were moderately cooperative. Brian Bell and I were joined by
Carol Schultz and Charlie Wright.

Pishing didn't work at all, but other than that... Some highlights:

Red-necked Grebe 2 on lake (thanks for the scope, Carol)
Canada Goose ONLY 14!
Bald Eagle Adult flew over RC ponds
Sharp-shinned Hawk
Cooper's Hawk
Virginia Rail One found dead off boardwalk
Common Snipe RC ponds
Short-eared Owl ID uncertain, at about 7:00 a.m.

And there were plenty of ducks: Mallard, N. Shoveler, Green-winged Teal,
Gadwall, Ring-necked Duck, Common Goldeneye, Bufflehead, Common Merganser, &
Hooded Merganser. And plenty of sparrows - the usual 8.

All told, somewhat over 50 species by noon, plus a cooperative muskrat at the
RC ponds.
