Another day with early fog, clearing to beautiful blue skies and sun. A bit
colder than last week, and that may have helped keep the birds active longer.
Brian Bell and I had a great time. Finally, some ducks have arrived at
Marymoor - seven species today. And junco made for a 8 sparrow day. I also
had a large, long-billed shorebird, possibly a Greater Yellowlegs, around
7:45A. Highlights:

Western Grebe 4 or 5 far out on lake
Mallard MF, 15 or so
Gadwall MF, around 5 total
Green-winged Teal 1 female, Rowing Club pond
American Wigeon 1 female, Rowing Club pond
Wood Duck MF, 3 total
Hooded Merganser 3 flew north
Common Merg. F at weir
Common Snipe 1 at weir
Cooper's Hawk Active near parking lot 7:30A
Merlin Great look over Pea Patch, 11:00A
Cedar Waxwing Flock of ~30
Violet-gr. Swallow 3 south of E. meadow - late
Swainson's Thrush Found 1 in ash trees, E end of boardwalk
Y.-rumped Warbler Abundant!
Dark-eyed Junco First of fall, at least 1
Purple Finch A few amongst the HOFI, YRWA

All told, over 50 species! No Green Heron, Gr. Wh.-fronted Goose, N. Harrier,
Barn Swallow, or Common Yellowthroat - all seen last week.
