Tweeters,

Early evening on 8 October, Ellen and myself observed a lone Stilt Sandpiper
with 50+Long-billed Dowitchers in flooded fields on the south side of Marion
Drain Road (0.5 mile west of Old Goldendale Road) near Toppenish NWR. This
is a later sighting than noted in the published literature for this region:
latest is 28 September at Summer Lake in Oregon (Paulson, D. Shorebirds of
the Pacific Northwest). However, I have two other October records, both at
the Walla Walla River delta: 29 October 1993, and one there 19 October 1986.

There were also at least three Pectoral Sandpipers present in these fields.
