In case anyone is interested, there has been a
beautiful example of a drake Mallard x Northern
Shoveler hybrid frequenting Drumheller fountain on the
UW campus for the last couple of days. I may try to
get pictures tomorrow. It really is a gorgeous bird.
Looks just like a mallard except slightly smaller and
has the rich chestnut colored sides and broad white
flank patch of the shoveler.

Also, there was a Bewick's Wren outside the UW
greenhouses this morning which was alternating a nice
imitation of a Townsend's Warbler, with his more usual
song.
