The following text is forwarded at the request of Dennis Paulson, who
was not at a computer where he could post to Tweeters yesterday. His
mails came in at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. I was attending a
disappointing baseball game at the time so these excerpts are not
getting posted until the following morning.

Bud Anderson just called me (at
5:30 p.m., 13 October) and was looking at a Hawk Owl as he spoke. He is on
Chelan Ridge, on the road toward the hawk-banding site, about a half mile
from where Black Canyon Road turns left to head toward the hawk site. The
owl is in an old clearcut on a snag (this is just about in real time, a few
minutes after he called). He was in a hurry so couldn't talk long, but he
said he would be happy to have me put this on tweeters. I've never been
there, so I don't know directions any better than that, but I think some
tweeters could easily furnish better directions on how to get to Black
Canyon Road.

Bud just called again and gave me more explicit info on the Hawk Owl. It's
actually 1.3 miles from the Black Canyon "T" (turn left, heading south), or
2.3 miles from the hawk camp. They put an 18" piece of yellow Caution
flagging at the spot, and it was on the left as you drive from the T.

Bud already caught and banded it (that's how easy it is, I guess), and I
guess it's all right to say that, as he asked me to ask people not to get
pushed out of shape!
