Hi Tweets,

While walking on the beach just south of Ebey's Landing on Whidbey Island
today I came across a dead immature gull. Couldn't identify the gull but
the cause of death seemed evident. The gull had a rat tail sticking out
of its mouth. A couple toe nails were just visible inside the gull's
mouth. The gull had no signs of injury to account for its death so I
assume it choked on the rat and died mid-swallow. The thought of poison
or internal injuries caused by trying to swallow a live rat also occurred
to me but both of those ideas seem as farfetched as the gull choking on
its meal. Any other explanations?
