On Hayden Lake, just north of Coeur d?Alene, Kootenai
Co, ID, there are 1 or 2 PACIFIC LOONS. The birds are
often very close to shore for some great viewing. From I-
90 in CdA, go north on US 95 toward Sandpoint. Pass
the Silver Lake Mall and Prairie Avenue. At the second
right past Prairie Avenue (US 95 milepost 434.3), turn
east on Honeysuckle (Texaco on the corner) and
proceed through the light on Government Way.
Honeysuckle stops when it hits 4th Street and 4th
becomes Honeysuckle to the left. Take the left toward
Honeysuckle Beach. Just before the beach, turn right on
South Hayden Lake Drive and note your mileage. The
loon has been seen at a spot about 1 mile from
Honeysuckle Avenue. There are 2 ?Hope Reality? signs
near a turnout. Also check by Tobler Marina. This road
has other turnouts, is narrow, and busy, so be careful.
Also stay out of the way of the locals. ID DeLorme 60,
AB-1.5 and A Birders Guide to Idaho p 43-45.

Three WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS were on Sullivan
Lake, Lincoln Co, WA last Fri, Oct 6, according to
Theresa Mathis. To get there, take US 12 west from
Reardon toward Creston. Turn south on Swanson Lakes
Road which is next to a grain elevator on the west end of
Creston and follow it about 9 or 10 miles. WA DeLorme
86, CD-4.

A BLUE JAY visited the feeder of Gerry and Elaine
Queener on Oct 12. They live about 1.5 miles east of
Troy, Latah Co, ID.

Good birding.
