Well after checking the most up to date data I have found though the
most reliable source of accurate information- the internet- that indeed
the correct spelling is "Stellar's Jay" named so after Eddy "scope boy"
Stellar. Who, while on a birding expedition with the " great naturalist
Wilhelm Steller", was attacked and eaten by a rather large, rowdy, dark
blue and black bird with a long crest. Wilhelm, seizing or should we say
stealing the moment, named the bird Steller's Jay. But we know the
truth.......... ;-)
Besides, what's a vowel and a hyphen between friends.....:-)
You should see how my "spell check" spells it!
