Saturday, 8:37 PM, October 14, 2000. Hi, this is Stephen Mlodinow. Today Dennis Duffy and I birded from Kingston up to Port Angeles. The highlight was a young LONG-TAILED JAEGER at the Kingston Ferry Landing. We also had a PARASITIC JAEGER, an adult, at Port Angeles at Ediz Hook and there were good numbers of waterbirds but that was it for unusual things. Good luck and good birding.

Sunday, 1:41 PM, October 15, 2000. Hi, this is Stephen Mlodinow. Today Ryan Shaw, Elizabeth Cruzzi (?) and I birded the Skagit Game Range and the Everett Sewage Ponds. At the Game Range the highlights were two SWAMP SPARROWS. These were both about a half to two thirds way out the Boat Launch Dike as opposed to the Main Parking Lot Dike. Also along the Main Parking Lot Dike we had a SPOTTED TOWHEE of the variety usually found in eastern Washington. At the Everett Sewage Pond there was a PECTORAL SANDPIPER and a few WHITE-FRONTED GEESE and three EARED GREBES. That's it. Good luck and good birding.

Monday, 12:20 PM, October 16, 2000. This is Roger Bead (206) 443-9911. At Tokeland on Saturday afternoon, at the Marina, when we were observing a large flock of MARBLED GODWITS which included three BAR-TAILED GODWITS we noted one AMERICAN AVOCET. I have not seen any postings about that sighting so I thought I would call that it in. We also noted that one of the GODWITS was leg banded and I did take some photos. I don't know if they are going to turn out. We could not read the entire band. Finally, there was a DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANT there which had an orange tag on the left wing which appeared to be two parallel markings, conceivably the number 11. For whatever that's worth. Monday, 5:24 PM, October 16, 2000. Hi, this is Greg Toffic. This morning at Monroe, the Two Rivers Unit, there was one tan striped WHITE-THROATED SPARROW. At the Everett Sewage Treatment Plant, the CAPE TEAL which has been there for the last few weeks was again present. This is apparently a male bird although the sexes are very similar. Of course, I must say this is undoubtedly an escaped bird not a countable bird, but it is an interesting critter anyway. Also there were at least two EARED GREBES and there was a hybrid MALLARDxBLACK DUCK at the the Public Boat Launch at Everett.

Monday, 5:47 PM, October 16, 2000. Hello, my name is Brad Wolfen, (253) 845-3216. I live in Puyallup, down in the valley, and about 5:15 or so at my bird feeder was a WESTERN SCRUB JAY. It stayed there, at the bird feeder, for about 10 minutes and then flew off. That's it. Thank you and good birding.
