Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
report was made Thursday October 19. If you have anything to add call

On October 14 a BLACKPOLL WARBLER was at Fields. A basic plumaged
YELLOW-BILLED LOON flew past Boiler Bay October 12. On October 14 an
alternate plumaged YELLOW-BILLED flew past Boiler Bay.

A BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER was near Flores Lake near Cape Blanco October 13;
five LAPLAND LONGSPURS and a SANDHILL CRANE were nearby.

A number of shorebirds were at Bandon October 15 including 11 MARBLED
GODWITS, a KNOT, and two AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVERS. Over 500 RED PHALAROPES
and 30 FORK-TAILED STORM-PETRELS were off Cape Arago October 12. Twenty
MARBLED GODWITS and 12 KITTIWAKES were at Coos Bay that day. A
SHORT-EARED OWL was on the North Spit of Coos Bay October 17.

On October 15 a SABINE'S GULL and a KITTIWAKE were at the mouth of the
Siuslaw River. On October 16 a PALM WARBLER and a WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE
were along the nature trail at the Marine Science Center on Yaquina Bay.
A LONG-TAILED DUCK was on Meares Lake at Tillamook Bay October 17.

An AVOCET was at Smith Lake in North Portland October 14. A male EURASIAN
WIGEON was at the Fernhill Wetlands in Forest Grove October 14. Two
EURASIANS were at Ankeny NWR October 15. On October 12 a CLARK'S GREBE
was seen on the pond on Stahlbusch Island south of Corvallis. A HERRING
GULL and 174 DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANTS were also there.

Four SANDHILL CRANES have been at a corn field along Highway 20 near
Engle Road east of Albany for about a week. A MOUNTAIN CHICKADEE was near
Mehama east of Salem October 17. Three were on Mt. Pisgah near Eugene the
same day. Five CLARK'S NUTCRACKERS were on King Mountain south of
Canyonville October 14.

Up to 6 SURF SCOTERS have been on Big Lake in Santiam Pass during the
week. A number of HORNED GREBES are now showing up on Cascade Mountain
lakes.

A PARASITIC JAEGER was at Klamath Falls October 18.
