Hi Tweets,

Sunday, Robert Rhodes and I spent sometime looking for raptors in the
Skagit. We were delighted to find many had returned, though not in huge
numbers. Came across an immature NORTHER SHRIKE (Fir Island) as well as
an adult, dark morph ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK and an immature roughie too (West
90). Also at the West 90 were approximately one dozen SHORT EARED OWLS,
and a matching dozen NORTHER HARRIERS. RED-TAILED HAWKS were in relative
abundance and we came across 4 BALD EAGLES and one male AMERICAN KESTRAL
near D'arcy Road. On Fir Island we were buzzed by an immature
SHARP-SHINNED HAWK.

Across from the West 90 nine SNOW GEESE arrived, seven were immature.
One Fir Island we found 22 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS and about 75 DUNLIN. We
didn't count the number of hunters.

All in all a very nice day birding with a mix of sun and clouds but no
rain.
