Hi Tweets,

I birded the Montlake Fill this morning. It was a
good morning overall, with lots of sparrows and things
moving about. I had a single Greater White-fronted
goose flying over in a flock of Canadas. In addition,
there 8 of the SMALLEST Canada Geese I have ever seen.
These birds were TINY, just barely as large as the
Mallards swimming next to them on the pond. They also
were darker overall. I also saw them grazing nearby
later on.

There were lots of other Canadas there too, of various
sizes and shades. I am not very familiar with the
various forms of Canadas that are seen in this area.
Does anyone have a good reference for telling the
different types apart? Or can someone give me an
overview? I would be particularly interested in
learning more about the small geese that I saw today.
