We're heading to Tofino for a few days toward the end of November. Haven't been there for 15 years (that's 14 years too long) so would appreciate any pointers on places to be sure to see. Also, know where we can pick up a good map of the area? A location in Tofino would be fine. Maps we can get in the Seattle area sorely lack detail North of Victoria/Saanich Peninsula. There is so much people miss out on when they focus on major highways and urban areas.
Remember taking a road East of the Pacific Rim Highway up a mountain side not far South of Tofino. Can't remember what caused us to follow the road. Saw several interesting birds (pictures and ID's are in a box somewhere in our storage) in mid May on a turnout on that road. Wouldn't mind seeing what birds we can find this time of year, several years later.
Also, if you know of anything going on or places a five year old would enjoy please let us know. Getting the kids to stay quiet so we can watch birds only lasts for so long. Then it's a game of seeing how far they can run through the forest till mom and dad catch up.
