Friday, 7:29 PM, October 27. Hi, my name is Rob Harrower. Earlier today
I left a report for a real, real light phase of a buteo. I wanted to expand
on the report. My phone number is (425) 252-8949. I saw the bird at the
Skagit County Wildlife Refuge on the south fork of the Skagit. It was clear
white all over the front from underneath the beak all the way down to
underneath its tail. I did not see the back side of its tail. The backside
of the bird was like a salt and pepper look. It was white and brown with
equal markings of both in a checkered manner. The undersides of the wings
were virtually all white with very little markings. The bird on its front
had a real light marking of a belly band. The other thing I wanted to add
was that there were pheasant hunters at the Skagit Wildlife Refuge. You
might want to wear orange if you go trucking out there. Where I saw the bird
was about a quarter mile south of the parking lot for the boat ramp. I also
made a reference to a book in the first report. It was really Wheeler and
Clark, Photographic Guide to North American Raptors. I believe its a
juvenile KRIDER'S RED-TAIL. That's all. Thank you. Good bye.

Sunday, 2:32 PM, October 29. Hi, this is Stephen Mlodinow. Today, Bill
Tweit and I had a late SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER at the Port of Everett
Waterfront with a group of LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS. That's it, good luck and
good birding.

Sunday, 8:35 PM, October 29. This is Barry Levine, (206) 526-8676,
reporting on a trip taken by myself and Kate Tolefson (?) to Tokeland and
Ocean Shores. At Tokeland, at about 12 noon, at high tide today, there was
one BAR-TAILED GODWIT in with the MARBLED GODWITS. These birds were located
on a dock on the left hand side as you enter the area. The dock is only
about 10 to 15 meters away so we were able to get exceptional looks at the
bird. Also in the area were 10 BROWN PELICANS some WILLET and WHIMBREL.
At Ocean Shores about 5 this evening, we were able to locate the three
TROPICAL KINGBIRDS first reported by Ruth and Patrick Sullivan. They were on
the wires just above where the road enters in to Damon Point. Also in that
location, in a group of about 5000 shorebirds, mostly DUNLIN and
SANDERLINGS, was one SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER. That's it. Good luck and good
birding.
