Yesterday, 10/30/00, about 1 p.m., we observed a male Snow Bunting in
winter plumage on Cape Lookout Rd., see page 58, B 1, in the Oregon DeLorme.
It was near a "Congestion" sign, .1 of a mile south of the Anderson View
Pt., and 1.2 miles south of the entrance gate to the Cape Lookout State
Park. We watched the bird for approx. 1/2 hour as it fed on the road
surface apparently for tiny seeds. It would fly up and move back and forth
on a short piece of road as vehicles passed. Does anyone know how common it
is to see a Snow Bunting in this area?
