The last two times when I stopped at the Washougal Sewage Treatment
Plant (milepost 17.5 Highway 14) I have seen NORTHERN SHOVELERS behaving
like diving ducks. Several birds in a group were diving and staying
submerged for about 5-6 seconds, they appear to be feeding but on what I
don't know. I was not aware that they even had the ability to stay down
that long.
Over one hundred TUNDRA SWANS are now at the Franz Lake N.W.R. at
milepost 31.5 Highway 14.
