Sightings Friday, September 1

A WANDERING TATTLER was observed from the tip of the Iona Jetty. On the
walk out 2 BLACK TURNSTONES were seen near the 2nd shelter and a LAPLAND
LONGSPUR by the 1st shelter. At the Iona ponds were a MERLIN and 2 BAIRD'S
SANDPIPERS.

>From the Tsawwassen Jetty came the report of the WILLET at the base, and
joining the MARBLED GODWIT at the compensation lagoon were 14 BLACK
TURNSTONES and a STILT SANDPIPER.

Thursday, August 31

On a trip to Cypress PP a GOLDEN EAGLE and a NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH were
sighted.

Wednesday, August 30

A NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH was discovered in Stanley Park at the west end of
Lost Lagoon near the wooden bridge.

Out of town at the Tofino Sewage ponds was a RUFF. In the same location but
seen on Tuesday the 28th was a LARK BUNTING. For more information on these
2 birds call the Nanaimo Bird Alert at 250-390-3029.

The juvenile LONG-BILLED CURLEW continues at Blackie Spit.

Reported from the Tsawwassen Jetty were 4 BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS, 2 BLACK
TURNSTONES, the WILLET,the MARBLED GODWIT, and a RUDDY TURNSTONE.

>From the Iona sewage ponds came the report of 8 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS, 1
SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER and a RED-NECKED PHALAROPE.

Tuesday, August 29

A GREEN HERON was seen at West Vancouver's Ambleside Parks display ponds.

Monday, August 28

Sunday, August 27

Two AMERICAN BITTERN and 3 COMMON NIGHTHAWKS were seen at Colony Farm.

Saturday, August 26

A possible FERRUGINOUS HAWK was reported soaring near the intersection of
101 & 104th in Surrey north of Green Timbers Park.

Point Roberts was the location for a HEERMANN'S GULL.

Seven MUTE SWANS, 4 adult and 3 juveniles were seen at Grant Narrows RP.
Along Pitt Meadows Rannie Rd. were 3 EASTERN KINGBIRDS and a TURKEY VULTURE.

Friday, August 25

An AMERICAN DIPPER was seen on Lynne Creek, North Vancouver between Arbor
Lynne & the old Premier Landfill site.

A RED KNOT along with a GREEN HERON was seen from the Boundary Bay dike near
the Mansion. A juvenile GREEN HERON was seen in the slough behind the Wild
Bird Trust building at Maplewood in North Vancouver.

At Blackie Spit were 2 juvenile PURPLE MARTINS and the LONG-BILLED CURLEW.

The Tsawwassen Jetty was the location for a MARBLED GODWIT and 6 BLACK
OYSTERCATCHERS. Another 2 BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS were reported from West
Vancouver's Grebe Islets.

A PARASITIC JAEGER was seen at Point Roberts.

Out of town birders looking for CRESTED MYNAS should try their luck at Wylie
& 1st in Vancouver.
