Hi Tweets

Been a while since I have posted anything. I am in the process of learning how to use my computer vrs webtv....

I have been reading about fall migration, and thought, oh, you have to bve kidding! Then...

Thurs, 8-31-00, I spent my lunch time at Hudson point, Pt Townsend. Summer is usually poor for many , if any birds.............

I now am a believer that fall migrastion is indeed on. I have never seen a tern at Pt Hudson during the limited time frames I spend there. But 300 terns really excited me! Unfortunately, they were too far out to identify as to which species. I was able to tell that they did not have the crest of some of the terns. and they had the black caps. I was able to focus my scope at 45tx on one bird and determined he had a yellow/yellowish bill.. But, for me, what a sight !!! had never seen that many terns before.

Had Fri off. Went to Grays Harbor and Ocean shores for 2 days...........

And saw a spectical of Awesome proportions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! at least for me...
Been reading about some brown pelicans over ther..................well, they are probably a common sight for meny of you. I have only seen a few 3-4 a couple times.

Bowerman basin, the sewage pond there!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY!!! what an invasion my friend Denise and I saw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was 1 pm, raininy a lot........................and here are all of these big birds, flying and diving, and more and more and more coming from the west...

I had NO idea that one would see HUGE flocks of pelicans..........What an awesome sight! They were in a feeding frenzy!!!!!!!!!
I took lots of pictures. after about 1 1/2 hours, I thought to try and count them.............at 250, there were just as many or more that I hadn't counted yet!

Has anyone else seen 500 plus pelicans at one placxe and one time? here in Washington?

Well, at least it was VERY EXCITING to me and my friend. She had never seen a live pelican before....

Didn't see a lot of other birds. Neither one of us are able to do all of the walking and hiking that most birding places require.
I did learn my way around Ocean shores well enough so that when I go over there next time, I know where to look for birds at.
