Hi Tweets

Been a while since I have posted anything. I am finding that using a computer vrs web tv can be a little trying at times..Just attempted to send a post, recieved an error message, and can't find the original message to correct it! AAAGGGHHH!

So will try again.

I was starting to wonder about some of you, re "fall migration" Oh yah??? not here in the Port Townsend area....

Until thurs aug 31st at noon... I usually eat my lunch at Hudson Point..get a good view of the water, ships, and some birds.
There were about 300 terns on the sand bars. Not the ones that have crests/tufts on the back of there heads. I was unable id which species they were. It did make me believe that fall migration is in progress...........

Had Fri off work, so, with a friend, went to bowerman basin and Ocean Shores..Did not do the walk (and push her wheel chair)..
out to the paoint at Bowerman..was raining a lot.

What a sight we had at Bowerman basin. Arrived 1:00 pm, raining hard..and all of these HUGE birds flying and diving..hoards of them, with more and more and more of them flying in from the west............Now, I have seen a few brown pelicans, and this is not down south were there are large colonies ofd them...............what were 500 plus brown pelicams doing here, anyway??????????????

Yes, 500!!! plus !! when I reached counting 250 of them, I had covered maybve HALF of the flock..
What an awasome sight, as these big birds are wheeling, hunting, diving--so ungracefully hittring the water beak first and then PLOPPING over into the water, feeding...a feeding frenzy!!!

Is this a common sight for some/lots of you confirmed birders? How many of you have seen large flocks of pelicans?

Well, may be a normal sight over where we saw them, but was very awasome for me and for Denise.... WOW

until nexrt time
