Hey tweets, If you've got a chance today, get over to the Fill. It is
absolutely stuffed with birds, unbelievably so. The strong south wind from
yesterday must have forced the migrants to stick around, because I have
never, in 17 years of birding the Fill, seen so many warblers and vireos.
Yellow and orange-crowned warblers, common yellowthroats, red-eyed and
warbling vireos occupied almost every tree this morning, I thought I was
going to get whiplash, I was looking around so much. At one point, two
warbling vireos came crashing into a blackberry bush, displacing two
Lincoln's sparrows (the first I have seen since last spring). A giant flock
of bushtits was making the leaves in the cottonwood grove tremble, but
somehow they gave confidence to the warblers that it was all right to come
out into the open. A Pacific slope flycatcher was also flitting around in
that same grove.

Also seen: green heron, flock of wigeons, northern pintail, belted
kingfisher, Steller's jay, American pipit, violet-green swallow, numerous
Vaux's swifts, tons of barn swallows, Bewick's wrens verbally abusing each
other, a marsh wren (heard), two wood ducks, a spotted sandpiper, two
leasts and a western on the main pond. - Connie, Seattle
