On Sept 14, my wife and I found a STILT SANDPIPER and a SOLITARY
SANDPIPER among the Pectoral Sandpipers in Elmer Rufener's Pond (the
first pond you come to on your right) in the Vancouver Lake Lowlands. The
pond is .9 miles past the stoplight on 4th Plain Blvd at Fruit Valley Rd.
Our first VARIED THRUSH of the fall was calling from our woods on Mt.
Pleasant, Skamania County on Friday Sept. 15th. It shouldn't be long now
until flocks of robins and thrushes descend into our groves of Mt. Ash
trees, the trees are loaded with ripening berries.
