Sightings for Sunday, September 17

A juvenile SABINE'S GULL was seen north of the tip of the south jetty at
Iona
Island.

A MERLIN was seen chasing starlings at 148th and 106th in Surrey.

Saturday, September 16:

The RUFF, REEVE and 1 SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER were seen at Reifel, as well as
2 AMERICAN BITTERNS and a PEREGRINE.

A RUDDY TURNSTONE was with 2 BLACK TURNSTONES at Beach Grove Lagoon in
Tsawwassen.

One PACIFIC GOLDEN PLOVER and 2 MARBLED GODWITS were at the compensation
Lagoon on the Tsawwassen ferry jetty.

The 3 GREEN HERONS could still be found at the display pond at Ambleside
Park, and they were at one point chased by a COOPER'S HAWK. Also at
Ambleside, a RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER was in a tree along the railway tracks.

The monthly Terra Nova bird count in Richmond had a new high of 16 LINCOLN
SPARROWS, and the first SNOW GEESE of the season were seen flying from the
airport towards downtown Vancouver.

A SHORT-EARED OWL was at 72nd Street in Delta.

Friday, September 15:

An immature BROAD-WINGED HAWK was seen over Vancouver at Connaught Park,
which is Vine and 12th.

A GREAT EGRET was at Bridon Lagoon in Langley.

The WANDERING TATTLER could still be seen at the 2.5-kilometer mark on the
south jetty at Iona Island, and an AMERICAN KESTREL was at the old outflow
pond.
