This is Kas Dumroese with the Northern Idaho / Eastern Washington /
Northeastern Oregon bird hotline for Friday, Sep 15 (2000). This hotline,

At Sprague Lake, about 40 miles west of Spokane in Adams and Lincoln
counties, WA, Terry Little observed 2 ad and 1 imm SABINE'S GULLS and an ad
PARASITIC JAEGER from the west side public access. Also there were FORSTER'S
and COMMON TERNS. And then, from the lake, Terry backtracked to Sprague,
Lincoln Co. Just east of town, about 0.5 mile, are 2 sewage ponds along the
road. There Terry saw 15 species of shorebirds on the mud, including an
AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER and a RUFF. Sprague Lake is on WA DeLorme 71, B-8 and
the town of Sprague is on 72, B-1.

In Sandpoint, Bonner Co ID, Earl Chapin had 6 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS in his yard
on Sep 9. On Sep 11, Earl watched a POMARINE JAEGER chase a Herring Gull at
the Sandpoint City Beach in downtown Sandpoint.

At Ice Lake in the Wallowa Mts of northeastern OR, Tom Underhill observed a
pair of NORTHERN GOSHAWKS on several occasions.

Among the expected shorebirds at Mann Lake, about 3 miles east of the
Lewiston Orchards, Nez Perce Co, ID this past week was an AMERICAN
GOLDEN-PLOVER on Sep 6. Very poor reservoir levels have really shrunk the
mud. However, every Saturday in September there will be a volunteer birder
leading tours of the reservoir and IDing shorebirds, beginning at 8 am near
the boat launch and continuing through the morning. If you come late, look
for the group. All are welcome. To get to Mann Lake from the north end of
Lewiston, follow US 12 West into town, cross the Clearwater River and
immediately take the first left toward East Lewiston. Turn left again onto
East Main Street and follow it about 0.5 mile to the blinking yellow lights.
Turn right onto Lapwai (aka Lindsay Creek) Road. When the road forks stay
right on Lindsay Creek. When Lindsay Creeks ends at Grelle Avenue, turn left
onto Grelle, and just after Grelle makes a sharp right turn, turn left onto
Powers Avenue. Follow Powers about 1 mile, straight past the grain towers,
