Hi,

I do a regular survey along the Boundary Bay shoreline (south of
Vancouver, BC) from 1001 Steps/Kwomais Point in White Rock to Crescent
Beach. Since 1995, there have been about 3000 Western Grebes that come and
moult between late July and early September. Fred Cooke and Jean-Pierre
Savard have seen them every year since at least the 1970s.

This year, there have been only about 30-50. Has anyone seen these grebes
elsewhere? Does anyone have an idea where these grebes come from?

On a more positive note, there are about 2000 Red-necked Grebes moulting
in the Bay right now. It's quite a sight!
