Hello Tweeters,
We where Owling yesterday evening at Mt.Rainier in three different location
from 8.30PM to 12.30 AM.The weather was verry much in our favour, cold and
crisp with no wind stars are shining bright, but no Moon. Two Owls was sighted
,one in flight showing in flashlight, the other was perched for up to 15
minutes at 6 feet on an open branch. This is one of "THE BEST " viewing i
will ever encounter and could be the best photo ever.As Patrick went back to
the car to get my Camera what we carried all afternoon on a three mile
hike.I would never guessed i ever had a chance to get a photo or good looks
from THE most wanted Owl in the state of Washington.I still can believe that
this one Adult stayed so long to view. When he took off, this before Patrick
rushed for the camera, he give 3 QUEW or KEW calls, not on any Tape we
own.Infact all the Owls was calling this QUEW call.Birders what owls for
Boreal Owls would know which call this is (different when breeding) We had a
family with two young Owls what was so close to the road you would think you
could touch them and calling constantly proable for food.We did not get home
to 2.30 AM so Patrick will write a more detailed message when he comes home
from work.
