The first hummer of the year buzzed me as I was unloading groceries Sunday
afternoon (4/1). I hustled inside and starting brewing up some nectar --
the groceries could wait!

We had a mild winter, kind of an endless spring (or fall -- it's hard to
tell here sometimes), but lately have had a little snow and below freezing
temperatures at night. Not much is blooming yet -- blueberry blossoms have
just started opening, and a few salmonberries are showing a tiny bit of
color.

Gazillions of robins, juncoes, fox sparrows, etc., have been moving through
for a couple weeks.

What an exciting time of year!
