I am fortunate to have bird feeders right outside my window at work.
Today, as I watched a pair of House Finches, I realized that they were
going around to the branches and reaching underneath the branches to take a
drop of water that was sitting waiting for gravity to bring it to the
ground. It was a deliberate action on their part. They moved along the
branch gathering the water drops as they went. A very simple procedure, but
one I had never seen before.
